PRODUKTBESCHREIBUNGEN KURZBESCHREIBUNG Busonis Meisterschüler Egon Petri (1881-1962) wurde als Sohn niederländischer Eltern in Hannover geboren. Der Vater war ein bekannter Geiger, Schüler von Joseph Joachim und u.a. Konzertmeister des Gewandhausorchesters. Dieser förderte ihn mit Unterricht in Musiktheorie, Violine, Klavier, Orgel und Horn. Ferruccio Busoni war ein Freund der Familie und erteilte ihm ebenfalls Unterricht. Der begabte Pianist wurde bald einer seiner wichtigsten Schüler und sogar sein Duo-Partner. Sein Klavierspiel zeichnete sich durch eine gelungene Synthese aus Intellekt und erstaunlicher virtuoser Technik aus. Auf APR erscheinen sämtliche Aufnahmen für Columbia und Electrola, die Petri auf dem Gipfel seiner Karriere dokumentieren. Egon Petri studied with Busoni and was perhaps his greatest disciple. In his fusion of intellect with an astonishing virtuoso technique he echoed his master and gives us today the clearest idea of Busoni's own legendary pianism. This set contains everything he did (apart from a few chamber works) until his final recordings for Columbia in 1951. Highlights include perhaps the most spectacular Brahms Paganini Variations ever committed to disc, the uniquely important Busoni recordings and a broad selection of Liszt including very impressive performances of some of the Schubert song transcriptions. Finally, we are delighted to present previously unreleased recordings of Brahms' Op. 10 and Op. 118. Some of this material was previously available on APR but is now remastered, and in some cases where better source material was obtained (e.g. the Chopin Preludes), re-transferred.
